What is an Pharmacode Barcode

Date November 15, 2010 Author AM Labels

A Pharmacode is a specific type of barcode that has been developed to be used in the pharmaceutical industry as a packing control system, it is also known as the Pharmaceutical Binary Code.

The Pharmacode barcode is found mainly on the packaging of pharmaceutical products, usually on the outside of the packaging containing the medicine. Due to its importance it is designed to be readable despite printing errors.

Unlike other commonly used one dimensional barcodes, the Pharmacode can only represent a single integer from 3 to 131070 and is encoded in binary rather than decimal.
